The M4 Convertible is part of the German mass market manufacturers fifth generation of M Coupe models and will go on show this week at the New York Motor Show. The new M model will go on sale later this year at a price of somewhere in the region of £60,000.

The new M4 Convertible model will be powered by the 425bhp 3.0 litre twin turbo engine that you will find in both the M3 and M4 Coupe models. The roof on the model will simply fold up into the rear of the model at the flick of a switch in just 20 seconds.

Most recently, the German mass market manufacturer BMW has fallen behind in the race to be the best luxury car manufacturer. The BMW brand has held the title for a number of successive years and has this year find itself behind rivals Audi for the first sales quarter of the year.

The Audi brand have achieved record breaking sales figures for the first quarter and insist that its hold on the SUV market with models such as the Q5. Owners of the Audi brand, Volkswagen, have also been amongst the big winners in the market as they continue to increase sales figures with the hope of breaking the 10 million mark for new cars sold.

The BMW brand are also going to face increased competition form new models such as the Jaguar XE and the new Alfa Romeo saloon model. Both models will go up against the firms best selling model in the form of the 3 Series.

The Jaguar XE has been labelled as being the most fuel efficient and low emission vehicle in the segment and will be available for a considerable amount less than that of the BMW 3 Series. The new Alfa Romeo Saloon model is believed to be at a fraction of the price of both the 3 Series and the Jaguar XE model and will be available in the UK towards the end of the year.
