I recently had a car accident and my car was written off. The Insurance Company offer was reasonable but I had a shortfall. I was so grateful that I had gap insurance to make up the difference between what I was offered and the original price I paid for the car. It allowed me to buy a similar car to the one I lost. What was so impressive was the professional and timely manner in which my gap claim was handled. I received the gap insurance payment just a few days after completing the claim. This allowed me to be back in my replacement car as soon as possible. I really recommend gap insurance and the policy I bought. The policy appears to cover all eventualities relevant to my requirements at a reasonable cost.
Most things are great apart from some lapses in spelling and abuse of the apostrophe. However, the operation of the checkout seems quirky. I wanted to buy two policies: vehicle replacement and alloy damage. I expected to pay for both together but it did not work that way. I had to pay for the alloy damage first and then go back through the whole process for vehicle replacement. As it happens, doing it this unexpected way suited me because it was advantageous to me to use separate credit cards.

I just bought the GAP and Excess insurance and I have to say that your web site provides the best online insurance buying process i have ever seen. There is clear information and explanation. You also reminded me on the screen that my motor insurance might provide new car replacement for one year and I can choose the GAP insurance start date a year later. Our system is designed and clearly shows that if your policy premium is more than £100 then when it comes to payment you will be given the option to pay monthly. This is simply because the cost of offering the monthly option is un-economically viable for policies less than £100.00. We work to tiny margins and therefore in keeping with our ethos felt it was fairer to offer everyone the lowest cost possible, instead of building an extra buffer which would allow us to simply absorb the additional charges.

Straight forward process
I called a spoke to a gentleman about my quote as the difference in price was so substantial, in comparison to the quote my garage gave me, I wanted to make sure I was entering the information correctly. The advisor I spoke to was knowledgeable, friendly and instead of the normal pushy sales person he was the complete opposite. Genuinely nice to speak to someone who wants to help me find the right cover instead of simply the most expensive.
All seemed very straightforward to buy Gap cover - and well priced - but hopefully we won't ever have to use it!

I looked at a few websites for GAP return to invoice insurance but your website was the best for good clear information.
Good but payment stage on web site is a bit confusing.
Dear Mr Shields thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. We think that the reason may be that because your policy was over £100 you where in fact offered three different payment methods, Paypal, credit or debit card and a monthly options.
We have done this in an attempt to offer choice however we take your comments very seriously and have already passed them to our IT department for review.

Although she was fine the car was written off. Without this policy I would have been nearly £4000 out of pocket. The claim when through without fuss, very sensitively and quickly. The money comes to you so you can go out and choose a replacement car. I went for exactly the same again but there is no commitment to do this like there is with some of the dealership policies. Policy application process is quick and simple and very cost effective when you compare it to the dealer policy, which incidentally was underwritten by the same company. Would never buy a car without Gap insurance again. Hopefully I will never need to claim on it again but thats what insurance is all about and I cannot afford to take that chance.

After being quoted by my dealership I checked a number of sites on the internet for me Shortfall was the best quote. It was 70% less than the quote my dealer had given me and a far better level of cover. The systems where easy and self explanatory.

Very good. I spoke to my dealership who wanted a lot more than your cost. They did try and tell me to be wary of buying online however as their policy is underwritten by the same company it fell on deaf ears and seemed little more than sour grapes.
In the world we live in, for the sake of £81.00 it seemed almost silly not to have the extra peace of mind.

My dealership had said most online providers where based in god knows where and they wanted £399 for three years invoice cover. Basically they did all they could to put me off buying else where. Shows what they know, your policy is UK based and just over £320 less and after talking to one of your telephone people appears to be better cover.

Called for a quote and I am so Glad I did. The lady on the phone explained my options and openly asked me to contact me insurance company. I had asked my motor insurance company if they offered gap insurance and they had said no. What I did not ask is if they covered me new for old. As it happens they do, so I saved even more. Shortfall could of just arranged a five year policy for me which would of cost me more. Instead they took the time to explain my options. Nice to deal with a company which has values waited towards the customer for a change. Seems that for once the commitment to customer care is not just marketing. 100 % would recommend.

I had spoken to a couple of gap companies and they seemed more bothered about downgrading other peoples policies than telling me about theirs. I called you and asked who ever I spoke to compare your policies and the difference was drastic. For me that speaks volumes. I do not want to deal with a company who is pre-occupied with other policies, instead I want to deal with a company whose sole focus seems to be on me, what my policy does and how their policies would work if my car was written off. That said I still hope I never need to make a claim!!

Shopped around and for a relative new comer to gap insurance it can be very confusing. I found the way in which you displayed the quoted and examples alongside really helped. One point however it might be useful to inform customers that you need to enter a mileage. My car is new and I spent 5 minutes trying to get your system to accept 0 miles.

We will ask our technical team to look into this for us. In the meantime we have amended the system to allow for you to enter the word "delivery". In practise no vehicle will ever have 0 miles on the clock as the garage will have taken your vehicle on a road test as part of their duty of care, and the mileage is just an indication so a few mileage either way is perfectly acceptable as long as the vehicle has done less than 80,000 on the day that you buy your policy.

Our system is linked to DVLA so sometimes if your vehicle has not been registered yet or has been within the last 24-48 hours DVLA's system may not have been able to find your car. The providers we work work are constantly trying to improve the time this takes however we are completely dependent on DVLA and the speed at which their systems update.

Called XXXXX to ask about cover for a van on contract hire, don't even think they knew how it worked and they ended up confusing me even more. Called you guys and the difference was like chalk and cheese. Your price was £15.00 less even after their discount and at least I know how it works now!
