Audi RS4 Avant Nogaro

Audi has created a new special edition in the form of the Audi RS4 Avant Nogaro selection. The new vehicle was designed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Audi RS2, which launched in 1994.

The RS2 the RS4 Nogaro will replace

The RS2 was famously fettled by Porsche and Audi now have the group under their wing. It was the first RS and first Avant, estate, model to be produced by Audi. The 'RS' name stood for 'RennSport', German for 'racing sport'. The RS level is Audi's top trim level.

When launched in 1994, the limited edition five door, five seater model featured a 2.2ltre 5 cylinder engine which produced 315PS. As it was fettled by Porsche, the RS2 featured many Porsche branded items, technologies and styling touches that don't feature on the new RS4 model. From March 1994 until July 1995, Audi built 2,200 RS models but de to high demand they ended up producing 2,891 overall.

The Audi RS4 Avant Nogaro specs and styling

As a nod to the RS2, the RS4 is in the same Nogaro pearl blue effect paint as the original. The Nogaro name was derived from the Nogaro circuit where Frank Biela achieved two victories in the 1993 French Touring Car Championship. Black gloss surround has been added to the Audi's trademark front grille along with matt black roof rails and a RS sports exhaust system complete with gloss black tailpipes.

Powering the 4WD vehicle is a 4.2litre V8 engine that develops 450PS at 8,250rpm with a maximum torque of 430Nm between 4,000 and 6,000rpm. From a standstill, the model reaches 62mph in 4.7 seconds. It's speed is electronically limited to 174mph with it's economy pegged at 26.4mpg and CO2 emissions at 249g/km.

Inside the interior features sports seats with the consumer having the option of matching Nogaro blue Alcantara centre sections. The blue theme is continued with the door trims, floor mats, steering wheel and gear-lever gaitor stitching all coming in blue.

When is the Audi Avant Nogaro available?

The Audi model will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show then will be available in Europe later this year but UK availability has yet to be confirmed. If it does come into the UK, you can expect to pay around £10,000 more than the standard £56,525 RS4 Avant for the new Nogaro model.
