New Kia Sedona

The Korean manufacturer has announced that the new Kia Sedona model will be revealed at the New York Motor Show in the next few months. The Sedona has been amongst the best selling MPV models outside of Europe and the firm expect that to continue with the new model.

The Kia firm have officially announced that the new model will not be exported into Europe and will only be on sale in the US. The Kia Sedona model used to be a large family vehicle in the UK and the last model was sold in 2012 before the model was cut from all ranges.

The rise of the SUV model seems to have formed the demise of the large family MPV market. The likes of the Citroen C4 Picasso and the Renault Espace models have all thrived on family sales in the past but seem to have lost vital market share with the arrival of the SUV.

Crossover models such as the Nissan Qashqai have now become the family cars of the future and therefore left models like the Kia Sedona with no place in the UK car market. However, the Kia brand have had a considerable amount of success in the UK, despite the Sedona model leaving just two years ago.

The Kia Sportage model was the firms response to the success of the Nissan Qashqai model and seems to pose the biggest threat in terms of market share and sales figures achieved. The Kia manufacturer has recently revealed a number of images which seem to show the new shape of the US only Sedona model.

It is believed that the MPV car market will continue to struggle in the next number of years as a number of manufacturers begin to pull models such as the Renault Espace. On the other hand, Kia have announced that they plan to continue to sell the Sedona model in the US.
