Nissan GT-R Nismo for Geneva

The latest news from the Japanese car maker Nissan, comes in the form of the Nissan GT-R Nismo's debut. For its European debut, Nissan is to showcase the Nissan GT-R Nismo sports car at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The Geneva Motor Show is set to begin March 4th and run until March 16th allowing plenty of time for fans to get a look.

The Nismo model gains DNA from the legendary Nismo global racing team, making the GT-R a race-orientated model delivering 'factory tuned' supercar dynamics with revolutionary enhanced aerodynamics and ultra-precise handling.

The Nissan GT-R Nismo specs

Power for the model is produced by the standard car's 3.8 litre V6 engine and thanks to new high-flow turbochargers used for GT3 racing, power has increased to 592 brake horse power, meaning the model outguns Porsche's 911 Turbo S. The engine provides 441kw of power and 652Nm of torque.

The chassis has been boosted by custom-developed three mode (Comfort, Normal and R for circuit applications) Bilstein suspension, unique black 6-spoke wheels and a new 17.3mm hollow rear anti-rolling bar. The car's exterior styling has been altered, improving aerodynamics and resulting in a stockier appearance while inside the model features carbon-backed Recaro sports seats, an Alcantara trimmed steering wheel and red trim detailing.

Five colours are available for the GT-R Nismo; Brilliant White, Meteor Flake Black, Ultimate Metallic Silver, Vibrant Red and Dark Matte Grey. The Dark Matte Grey option will be available starting from summer 2014.

The GT-R Nismo was developed and tested at Germany's Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit and with all the new upgrades, the model boasts an impressive Nurburgring Nordschleife time of 7:08.679.

Comments from Nissan

Nissan CEO, Carlos Ghosn, commented, “With a 7:08.679 lap time, we can authoritatively say that the Nissan GT-R Nismo holds the volume production car lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife, which is the gold standard of high performance achievement.”

The model is already available in Japan and the highly capable GT-R coupe is set to arrive in European Nissan showrooms by September. The Nissan GT-R Nismo cost has yet to be confirmed by the company but the expected price tag is likely to be north of £100,000.
