New Citroen C4

The Peugeot Citroen brand have been one of the struggling manufacturers in the last number of years and have been focusing on expanding the range of models on sale and updating existing models.

In recent weeks, Carlos Taveres who has become the new CEO at the company has announced that he plans to take the same action that he did at the Renault brand and remove any models that are not bringing in a profit.

It is very much clear to see that the Citroen C4 model is probably not one of those models. The Citroen C4 model is a larger hatchback model and is a direct rival to that of the successful Ford Focus model.

The Ford Focus has won a number of awards and has featured in the top ten best selling models in the UK for over 12 months now. The US manufacturer has developed a world beating car with a cleaver choice of engine in the form of the 1.0 litre engine. The 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine has been highlighted by a number of manufacturers as being one of the main contributors to the success of the model.

Citroen have developed their version of an EcoBoost engine under the name of the PureTech family of engines. The French manufacturer have spent over 25,000 hours testing the latest family of engines.

It is believed that the new engine family will be transferred across the range and will end up making it to the successful DS3. The new family of engines will make the cars lighter and better to drive according to the firm.

The Citroen engine has also developed some nice looking figures in terms of emissions and fuel efficiency as it is believed that it will now post figures of CO2 emissions being cut by as much as 18 per cent.
