Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TDI

German car firm Volkswagen have recently put a brand new variant of the Passat model on sale here in the UK and across other world wide markets. The Passat is a family sized vehicle that has sold well over various countries world wide just not as well across European markets. The likes of the Golf, Polo and Scirocco are some of the biggest sellers for the VW brand here in the UK and now in an attempt to achieve some more success this new variant of the Passat has been introduced with new hopes of bring in better sales figures for the car.

The Passat is a good strong contender for the best family vehicles around the world bringing the fight to the Mondeo from Ford. What new changes find a place in the Passat model though that could help raise the reputation of the car here in the UK?

New parts and features which can be found in the revised Volkswagen Passat

So in regards to some of these changes that have been made to the car,we see two new engine ranges which now come along with the Passat and these include a 1.6 litre Bluemotion diesel unit and a 2.0 litre TDI also. The 2.0 model is highly expected to be the more popular choice on our roads and a lot of this comes thanks to two separate power deliverances which come from the car which see both 148 and 187 brake horse power delivered.

A standard manual six speed gearbox will come across the range but customers will also be faced with the option of a dual clutch DSG transmission system too. Regarding the performance rates that will be put out from the new Passat, we see that the 187bhp 2.0 litre model will reach a total top speed of 137 miles per hour which will also be helped to arrive at this target by the leap from 0 to 62 miles per hour which is achieved in just 8.9 seconds overall.

A new set of 18 inch alloy wheels are also a key change made to the car as are the more sloped bonnet and body creases which should help the Passat out vastly when it comes to delivering on a much more agile and dynamic driving experience. Some new features can also be found inside of the Passat which include a 6.5 inch colour touch screen and if you opt for the SE business model and other trim levels above, a built in sat nav system will also come thrown in. For the size of the car, the BMW 3 series could battle the new Passat in a strong way as could the Octavia from Skoda.
