Nissan Qashqai 5 Star Safety

The Nissan Qashqai has been one of the stand out performers in the UK car market over the past 24 months. The Nissan Qashqai along with the Nissan Juke have dominated the crossover market in the UK and fought off competition from a range of manufacturers.

Due to the success of the pair of Nissan models, a number of manufacturers including the likes of Vauxhall, Ford and Kia all developed rival crossover models. It is rumoured that the Kia Sportage model is the most successful rival on the market, however, official figures are yet to confirm the rumour.

Vauxhall and Ford have always done well within the UK car market and with the Nissan models dominating a certain segment, the pair of US manufacturers were forced to respond. The Vauxhall Mokka model and the Ford EcoSport have been the products of the response. The Mokka model at Vauxhall has posed the biggest threat for Nissan in the past, whilst the EcoSport model at Ford remains a quiet yet successful crossover model.

Volkswagen have recently announced an interest in the crossover market and plan on directly influencing the market with a brand new CrossPolo model. The CrossPolo model is set to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Within the past 24 months and continuous increase in the market share, Nissan, Ford and Vauxhall have all featured in the top ten best selling models consistently. The Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus models have been at the top of the leader board, whilst the Vauxhall Astra and Corsa models have remained behind the pair. Nissan have been in positions lower than 5 all year with both the Juke and Qashqai.

The new Qashqai model is set to be bigger and better and has recently been awarded a five star safety rating by Euro N Cap. The Nissan model excelled in occupant protection during frontal impact along with a strong level of driver protection. The overall adult safety rating is 88 % which suggests the level of safety available in the latest Nissan Qashqai model.
