There is a lot of speculation at the moment over the addition of a brand new Focus RS model from American car brand Ford. The vehicle as spotted testing for the very first time in June of this year and it is believed that this brand new addition to the Ford line up could be set to reach our streets throughout the course of 2016.
The version of the vehicle that was spotted was a prototype version of the car with a lot of its features expected to carry over to the road version when it is officially to see a grand launch. When the car was spotted testing on the road it was completely undisguised and was seen in a Black paint scheme. It was in 2007 that we first seen the Focus RS arrive on our streets and in 2016 it will make nine years since its grand launch, what other features can we expect to find on this brand new RS model though that could give it the edge over some tough competition from the likes of the Leon from Seat and the Honda Civic Type R?
Two large exhausts are expected to come along with the new RS located at each end of the rear of the vehicle It is believed that this new RS addition will stay as a front wheel drive model and will also contain the fitting of a brand new 2.3 litre,Ecoboost engine. The same unit will also make its debut in 2015 when we see the arrival of the new Ford Mustang in the UK for the first time ever. Around 350 units of brake horse power are also expected to be produced from the car from the on sale date.
An electronic differential and an upgraded suspension system are also expected to come along with the car. With power of this nature being produced by the car, we believe that the Mercedes brand could also be a source of competition for the brand new Focus RS when it does arrive.
An exact date of launch remains unconfirmed at this moment in time by the brand but we do expect the car to go on sale at some time throughout the course of 2016. A purchase price to come along with the car is also expected to come in at around the £27,000 price region. As soon as more information is revealed on the Focus RS, we will keep you up to date.
