The vehicle industry is one of the key sectors on a global scale. Many manufacturers have delivered on some all round great vehicles which have quickly became some of the most recognised cars all around the world. Over the years we have seen some huge technological advancements in the car industry as a whole. Vehicles such as electronic cars/hybrids/ the recent solar powered vehicle introduced by American manufacturer Ford and sports cars of all varieties. For example the Fiesta is the best selling vehicle ever to be introduced into the United Kingdom. The Golf from German brand Volkswagen which was originally introduced back in 1974. The Golf currently holds the record for the most vehicles to ever be sold on European markets. The very first fuel driven vehicle was introduced to the world back in 1807. It was designed by Francois Isaac de Rivaz. The car was ran by an internal combustion engine which ran on fuel gas.

 

One of the very first petrol vehicles on four wheels to be designed here in the United Kingdom was built in Birmingham back in 1895 by a gentleman named Frederick William Lanchester. One of the very first known manufacturer vehicles to be launched onto the streets of the United Kingdom came in the form of the Ford Model T. This vehicle was in production from 1908 to 1927 and was one of the best selling four seater vehicles of that time period. It was stated that the Model T was the most influential car of the twentieth century.

 

Another key seller in the car industry that is still well recognised today is the Beetle from German company Volkswagen. The Beetle has proven to be just as popular today as it was when it was first introduced to the world back in 1938. Production on this model ended back in 2003 and registered 20 million separate units manufactured all over the world. The Beetle was produced in total for 60 years and certainly proved to be a key vehicle in the success of the Volkswagen brand.

The top five best selling vehicles in the United Kingdom have proven to be key sellers over the years for their respective manufacturers and now we take a look into just what these top selling vehicles are.

So to start of our top five countdown of the best selling vehicles in the United Kingdom right now.. we start of with number five.

  • The fifth best selling vehicle in the United Kingdom right now makes it's way to you in the form of the Vauxhall Astra. The Astra model was originally introduced to the world back in 1974 and has been manufactured here in the United Kingdom's Ellesmere Port plant for many years. The latest addition of the Vauxhall Astra has proven to be a key player around the world for many reasons. It contains all the benefits of a good family vehicle and has certainly proven to be a good seller for the brand.

     

    The latest version of the Astra comes fully fitted with a choice of either a 1.4 litre petrol engine which produces 87 brake horse power. A twin turbo 2.0 litre diesel engine also comes as an option to this vehicle overall it produces 195 brake horse power. There are different versions of the model that you can invest your money into. These include the Hatch, the Sport tourer estate and the GTC vehicle. Over the years this vehicle has proven to be some ideal competition for the big selling Focus vehicle from Ford and of course the Golf from Volkswagen and we certainly believe that this vehicle will continue to do much of the same well into the near future.

As we stated earlier on into our report, the Golf currently holds the record for the best selling vehicle on European markets. It was introduced to the world from it's mass manufacturer in 1974 and has since proven to be one of the companies best ever sellers along side the likes of the Polo. This vehicle has certainly with stood the tests of time and has received many different variations over the years. Models such as the Golf R and the recently introduced E Golf hybrid vehicle have proven to be a key feature in the success of Volkswagen. .

 

The latest Golf model available on the streets comes fully fitted with as choice of engines which range from 1.2 litre,TSi turbo,a 1.4, 1.6 and a 2.0 Tdi engine. The top range topping engine that comes along with the vehicle makes it's way to you in the form of the 2.0 litre GTI. Power for this addition varies from 217 to 227 brake horse power. Each different entry level for the car also receives some key selling points. As an example, we see the entry level model come fitted with a set of 15 inch steel wheels whereas the range topping model the SE comes fitted with 16 inch alloys. The latest installment to the Golf line up for 2014 comes with a purchase price starting of at £15,827 and is available right now.

The Focus from American car company Ford has been made available to customers all around the world and was first produced in 1998. The vehicle quickly became one of the most recognisable vehicles to ever be launched from the Ford brand. The Focus quickly became the worlds best selling, automobile nameplate which surpassed the success of the Toyota Corolla.

 

The Focus was given the achievement of one of the worlds 50 greatest vehicles from the 'CAR' magazine here in the UK. The latest addition into the Focus family has been available on our streets since last month and was originally unveiled at the Geneva motor show. A choice of numerous engines is has a key part to play in the new Focus for 2014. We see the choice of the brands new Ecoboost range go on sale.

 

These include a 1.5 litre,four cylinder petrol, a 1.0 litre, three cylinder engine and a 1.6 litre, four cylinder petrol engine also. Diesels are also welcomed in with the new addition to the Focus family which include a 1.5 litre TDCi, q 1.6 litre TDCi and a 2.0 litre TDCi. Some brand new changes that come to this years addition to the line up compared to that of the previous installment include; an all new four spoke steering wheel, heated interior features come as an optional extra,chrome inserts,a new centre console and five and six speed manual gearboxes are also an option. A six speed,automatic transmission system is also made available as an optional extra. If you are thinking about making the purchase on this brand new Focus addition to the line up, you can expect to pay a total cost of £13,995 ranging up to £25,495 for the top spec model.

  • Taking the spot as the second best selling vehicle in the UK..The Vauxhall Corsa.

The Vauxhall Corsa has certainly proven to be one of the finest city cars ever made available around the world. The very first version of the car was originally introduced onto the global car market back in 1982 and has since then proven to be a top flight contender on both the new and used car markets going up against the likes of the Ford Fiesta, the Fabia from Skoda and of course the Volkswagen Polo. The Corsa has proven to be a key addition into the success of the Vauxhall brand and we certainly think it will continue to be well into the future. An all new Corsa will be arriving onto our streets from January of 2015 with the car to be officially revealed at the Paris motor show this coming October. Both petrol and diesel engines will go on offer with this car next January. It has been reported by General Motors that the Corsa has been selling 85,000 models in the UK alone on a yearly basis. So the addition of a brand new model could be the key ingredient to even more success for the company. The new additions for the 2015 version of the car will include LED daytime running lights,all new front fog lights and a direct injection turbo engine which will come along side a 1.0 litre, three cylinder petrol, a 1.2,1.2 and a 1.4 engine. Power output from the new engines will vary between 69 bhp and 113 brake horse power. The price range for the brand new model is yet to be revealed by the Vauxhall firm however, this will all be revealed next month.

The Fiesta over the course of the past few weeks has been confirmed to be the very best selling vehicle addition that has ever been made available on the streets of the United Kingdom. The Fiesta is one of the American companies biggest sellers ever and has been available on the market since 1976. Over the years we have seen the Fiesta arrive in many different variations. The likes of the automatic, the Zetec and the RS are just to name a few. Up to now a grand total of 4,115,000 units have been sold since the original launch in the UK alone. The Fiesta is currently running in it's seventh generation. Many variations of the car have been released to the world over the years with 40 percent of buyers opting for the choice of the 1.0 litre, Ecoboost engine. The Fiesta replaced the Escort from the same manufacturer which sold a total of 4,105,961 units. With the Ford Fiesta topping the charts here in the United Kingdom as far as new car registrations go we think the future for the American Ford company and the Fiesta line up looks very bright indeed and could prove to be the must own vehicle on a global scale also.
