Audi and the launch of the new diesel TT

The new Audi TT family has been taking names over the past year with it celebrating some good strong sales. The TT has always been one of the most recognisable vehicles from the German firm across all countries world wide and since the third generation of these models went on sale, the firm have been dominating with their petrol ranges. One of the most recent entries into that range though is the car fitted with a diesel engine and today we take a look into why you may want to invest into a diesel TT over that of a petrol unit. The majority of features and specifications are the same as the petrol TT models but considering the new diesel fitting, it is the performance rates that see the biggest change with this particular model.

A new TT engine brings new performance changes

So the big question in the minds of many is how does the diesel engine found in the TT perform compared to that of petrol?. Well to answer that question, it carries a two litre capacity and comes in the form of a turbo diesel as expected. Running on a front wheel drive powertrain and fitting a manual six speed gearbox to the car sees the ending result occur of a 182 brake horse power deliverance. Top speeds hit out a 150 miles per hour with that leap from 0 to 62 mph being achieved in a reasonably quick time of just over seven seconds. For a diesel engine, the fuel economy and efficiency is where this vehicle really stands out as demonstrated by 110g/km C02 emitted and 67.3mpg returned.

It has already been proven over the years that the TT is one of the most popular selling vehicles that the German firm have on sale in the UK and given these new emission and economy rates from a turbo diesel engine, the auto industry believes that this could very well be the biggest seller in the new TT range.

The rivals and price of the new Audi TT

The car has done battle with the Porsche Cayman and the BMW 4 Series for many years and with good strong efficiency and power produced by the new turbo diesel engine, we see no reason as to why this would change with the new model. If the diesel variant of the new TT grabs your attention, then we think you may pleased to know that you can purchase the car for a cost of £29,770 and it is on sale right now.
