Kia Picanto Quantum Special Edition unveiled

A special edition of the Kia Picanto supermini has been revealed, with Kia dubbing the model the Quantum. This new model, which forms part of the company's 'Originals' range, is available to buy from Kia dealers across the UK market.

The Kia Picanto Quantum Special Edition design and tech

The new model features distinctive styling to set it apart from Kia's existing models and includes added kit as standard. When it goes on sale it will only be available in a three door body and finished in titanium silver metallic body paint on the outside, whilst the interior will feature black leather upholstery to add a premium feel.

Kia's special edition model features 15 inch alloy wheels, heated door mirrors, automatic air conditioning, keyless entry, engine start/stop, an electric sunroof, front foglights and a six speaker audio system as standard.

Kia Picanto Quantum customers can also benefit from an urban pack which adds rear parking sensors, LED interior ambient lighting and privacy glass. A UV solar windscreen also reduces any annoying glare that could come into the car.

What powers the Kia Picanto Quantum Special Edition?

Power for the new model comes from the same 84 brake horse power 1.25 litre petrol engine as in the standard Picanto. With the five speed manual gearbox the vehicle has a fuel economy of 62.8mpg with CO2 emissions at a claimed 102g/km. When equipped with the optional four speed automatic gearbox, these figures drop to 50.4mpg and 130g/km of CO2. These figures are achieved through the use of the engine start/stop which switches off the engine when the car is stationary to save fuel.

The new special edition is also covered by Kia's transferable seven year warranty and are available in showrooms now, this covers the repair costs of any manufacturer faults that could occur within that period. The Kia Picanto also performed well in the 2011 Euro NCAP crash tests and should be a safe car overall, with a score of four stars and 86% for adult occupant protection.

Prices for the special edition Kia Picanto Quantum start at £11,895 for the manual variant and £12,495 for the automatic model.
