New Peugeot 308
Peugeot have announced that the new 308 model will be powered by the 1.2 litre petrol engine which is impressively low on emissions. Most recently, both Peugeot and Citroen have been developing a number of new models, technology and engine ability in order to reignite the interest in the brand.
The Peugeot 308 model is now available with the new more efficient 1.2 litre three cylinder engine. The new PureTech engine at Peugeot is capable of achieving 130bhp. The turbo option on the engine will return a massive 61.4 mpg and reduce emissions down to 107g/km.
Peugeot have tested the engine on numerous occasions in order to take the most common result from the fuel economy and emission figures. The 308 Peugeot model managed to achieve impressive figures of 99.1mpg with a single tank taking the model 1124.7 miles.
The new engine officially makes the Peugeot model the most economical car in its class and therefore more attractive to motorists. Peugeot have cleverly combined high pressure direct injectors, high performance turbo and a compact build to provide the highest level of fuel economy.
The new engine option give the 308 a total of 5 different petrol engines ranging power from as little as 82bhp and 156bhp. The model also has 5 different diesel variants with power ranging from 92bhp and 150bhp. It is also believed that the new 1.2 litre petrol engine will find a place in the 208 hatchback and possibly the 2008 crossover model at Peugeot.
Most recently Peugeot have developed the second range of small city car models alongside Toyota and Citroen. The Peugeot 108, Citroen C1 and the Toyota Aygo have been on the market for over 10 years and have experienced a considerable amount of success in the way of sales and all three manufacturers are hoping for the second generation of models to experience the same.
