Skoda Expansion in the Chinese market

Skoda Expansion 2018

Skoda have announced plans to more than double sales in the Chinese car market. Skoda believe that the Chinese car market is the worlds biggest car market and is expanding at a rapid rate. Last year, the firm achieved sales figures of 227,000 models in the Chinese market and expect to achieve 500,000 by 2018.

Owners of the Skoda brand, Volkswagen, have highlighted the Chinese car market as being the biggest contributor towards the success of an individual brand. This year the Volkswagen firm insist that they will sell over ten million new models with the Chinese market being the main selling market.

The Audi brand who have been amongst the most successful manufacturers in the Chinese car market have had a record breaking quarter and jumped to the top of the best selling luxury car manufacturers.

Skoda have also released plans to sell 1.5 million models worldwide by 2018 with 500,000 sold in the Chinese car market. The range of models under the Skoda name is expected to continue to increase over the next 12 months with a new Urban Yeti.

The current range of models at Skoda include the Octavia, Fabia, Rapid and the Yeti, although Skoda insist that the range of models will continue to grow in the next number of months.

The Czech based brand have also announced that they plan on producing a new SUV model that will be built alongside sister brand Seat and on the platform of the very successful Audi Q range of SUV models.

In the past few months, the automotive industry has gone SUV mad as a number of manufacturers have announced plans to build an SUV model. Both Jaguar and Aston Martin have both confirmed plans to develop a new luxury SUV model that will go head to head with the likes of Porsche and Bentley.
