We heard previously about the new convertible Mini which is set to go on sale from this coming November but what you may have not expected is what is due to follow it. John Cooper Works models are known for being more finely tuned and performance based versions of some current standard hatchback models and we now know that the JCW convertible is on the way with a launch planned for next year. We know of the new car due to images that have been posted online which show the car still wearing some disguise being put to the test. The car was spotted carrying some familiar JCW looks with of course the big addition being the new drop top roof. Some of the car including the doors and certain areas of the bonnet were undisguised but camouflage across the centre of the bonnet could point towards new striping being added or even air intakes in the top of the bonnet. The big disguising though was at the back end which could give an insight into some reshaping here and there and of course the new badging. That's not all though, we also have information on some more specifics that are set to launch with the car.
The new features of the JCW convertible to keep an eye out for
So regarding the new highlights of the JCW that you may want to keep an eye out for, these include an expected, turbocharged, two litre petrol engine that will give out 228 brake horse power or somewhere in that area. Confirmation of the transmission has not been given as of yet but we would expect to see either the standard six speed manual or the option of an automatic coming into play.
A dual exhaust system is one of the new features of the JCW model aswell as larger air intakes located at the front end of the car and brand new alloy wheel designs are also used. Changes made inside of the car will also give it a bit more of a sporty feeling and that is mainly down to the new bucket designed race seats. Steel braking and accelerator pedals will also see their debut in the new convertible.
How much is the convertible model going to cost?
Well the new JCW standard hatchback is going to cost £22,865 so although not confirmed as of yet, we expect to see a price rise for the JCW convertible. Keep an eye out for this model on the road from next year with rivals such as the Golf GTI and the Renault Clio awaiting it.
