As a celebration of 95 years of Bentley history, the British car manufacturer is creating a special edition model of the company's top of the range Mulsanne saloon. The special edition, dubbed the Mulsanne 95, is highly exclusive and will be prepared by Bentley's Mulliner 'special requests' division in Crewe.
What will the special edition Bentley look like?
For each car, there is a choice of three exclusive 'distinctively British' exterior colours which were all created especially for this limited run of cars and then hand-finished at Bentley's own paintshop. These colours are Britannia Blue, Empire Red and Oxford White.
The classic red, white and blue colour palette is complemented by some eye-catching exterior design touches unique to Mulsanne 95, with a dark tint finish given to the Mulsanne 95's mesh grilles, iconic 'Flying B' bonnet mascot and the striking 21 inch five spoke wheels.
What about inside the Bentley Mulsanne 95?
The cabin of the Mulsanne 95 showcases Bentley's ability to skilfully blend contemporary features with the luxurious wood veneers and leather hides for which the company is renowned.
The wood was acquired from a particularly rare walnut tree, estimated to be between 300 and 400 years old, that fell during a heavy storm at Fulbeck Hall in Lincolnshire back in 2007. According to the company, the veneer forms a 'ring of wood' that encompasses the entire interior and the complex pattern displays a rare rippled effect which sweeps through the cabin.
Bentley's Mulsanne 95's interior also gains illuminated tread plates which feature a bespoke 'NINETY FIVE' script and union flag details. A '95' emblem has also been embroidered onto the front and rear seats as well as featuring on the passenger fascia panel. Elsewhere, the special edition model gets a blue and white two-tone leather split with red contrast stitching to continue the British theme.
Has the Bentley Mulsanne's engine changed?
No mechanical changes are offered for the Mulsanne 95, meaning it maintains it's 505bhp 6.8 litre V8 engine, which is capable of a 0-62mph time of 5.3 seconds and a 184mph top speed.
The car makers plan on creating just fifteen units which will only be offered to customers in the UK. Order books for the Bentley Mulsanne 95 are now open, though official pricing has yet to be revealed.
