Bentley Continental GT range upgraded

Luxury automaker, Bentley have announced a series of light upgrades for their flagship Bentley Continental GT range for the 2014 model year. The company plan to unveil the new versions of their Continental GT line up at the upcoming Geneva motor Show next week.

The upgrades are mostly to improve styling, aerodynamics and power along with the interior. Their line up is now to feature a new V8 engine powered Continental Flying Spur model and an upgraded Bentley Continental GT Speed.

The Bentley Continental GT Speed changes

Power for the new Continental GT Speed model has been changed, with the vehicle's 6.0 litre twin turbocharged W12 engine now being pushed further. The engine is now capable of delivering 635 brake horse power and a company record of 820Nm of torque. Top speed for the coupe variant has now increased to 206mph, making it the fastest production Bentley ever, while the revised convertible variant can reach 203mph. Such speeds make the model faster than the Rolls-Royce Wraith, Mercedes-Benz CL 65 AMG and the Aston Martin Vanquish Volante.

Styling-wise extra visual appeal has been added to the 2015 Speed though a sharp front splitter, discrete side skirts and an elegant rear diffuser. Each element is finished to match the exterior paint colour for the first time. A dark tint finish has also been applied to the model's 21inch Speed wheels, headlamps and tail lamps. The chassis of the model has been lowered and it's suspension stiffened.

Extra styling touches also include red painted brake calipers and a stylish chrome 'Speed' badge for a sporting flair. Bentley are now offering the model in a new signature paint colour, dubbed Candy Red.

Other changes to Bentley's Continental GT line up

Alongside these upgrades, the company have introduced seven new options packages for the Continental line up, each featuring different specifications. Among the new luxuries offered are new in-seat neck warmers, drilled alloy foot pedals, new boot carpeting and a heated steering wheel. All V8 and W12 Continental models now receive the rear-view camera and hand-crafted storage case as standard.

Following it's Geneva reveal, deliveries of the new Bentley Continental GT Speed model begin this summer with the pricing expected to be above £150,000.
