Jaguar reveal the second generation XF model

Last night in London Jaguar officially held a big event which hosted the grand reveal of the brand new XF model before it goes on display once again next week from the New York Motor Show. The brand revealed the car badged as a 2016 model and also went into detail about the new equipment and upgrades on offer with the car aswell as some big mechanical changes that will be brought into play for the cars second lifecycle. One of the big things that people have noticed with the new model though is that some of the similar features it carries to that of the British firms XE model. Body styling and design wise it looks pretty similar. The new model carries new fittings to the bodywork and will also carry new engines compared to that of the first generation model, so lets get into these big changes that find a place inside of the vehicle.

Jaguar add new kit and engines for the XF

One of the most exciting points about the new car for us is the new engine range which was last night announced for the car. The brand have confirmed that their ingenium range will find a place inside of the vehicle with multiple offerings on hand. There are three engines in total with turbocharged and supercharged units also coming into play. The turbocharged model is a two litre diesel but it is available in two different tunes. 161 brake horse power or 178 brake horse power can be chosen. Your other two options consist of a twin turbocharged V6 diesel and a supercharged V6 also carrying three litres. 296Bhp is produced by the V6 diesel but the supercharged engine sees a significant rise in power up to 375bhp. A standard, Jaguar have announced that a six speed, manual transmission system will be offered with the new range but if you are looking for something upgraded, then an optional eight speed automatic transmission system could very well be the ideal choice for you.

Other changes brought into play with the new model include full LED headlights,a new window fitting and a redesigned front grille shape. Technology wise we see the touchscreen system inside of the cabin increase in size now measuring at 10.2 inches. The infotainment system has also been upgraded and we see a similar steering wheel to that of the F Type also takes its place of pride inside the new model. Jaguar have also said that they have been focused on reducing weight and they have done this by making seventy five percent of the cars architecture out of aluminium material. This will therefore lead to a quicker and much more dynamic driving performance.

When is the new XF expected to go on sale?

The new model is expected to arrive in Jaguar showrooms from around September of this year but this news has not been confirmed as of yet. Price wise the brand have not stated how much the new car will cost but prices for the current range begin from £33,445 so expect an increase on this price.
