Since that statement, the likes of Nissan with the Leaf model and Renault with the Zoe model have gone on to double the sales figures in the growing market of the UK amongst others.
Some of the worlds leading manufacturers such as BMW, have invested over £2 Billion in the development of the electric car and motors. The BMW i3 model and the BMW i8 are said to be two of the most anticipated and wanted models in the car industry.
The Volvo brand will be going head to head with the active tourer estate models at BMW.
