New Nissan X Trail
Nissan have decided bring the X Trail model to the UK to help stiffen up the success of the Qashqai and the Juke models. Both crossover models at Nissan have come under fire following the release of a number of rival models.
The Qashqai and the Juke models have been amongst the best selling models in the UK for approximately 24 months. However, since the arrival of other models such as the Vauxhall Mokka and the Kia Sportage, Nissan needed to make a change.
The Kia Sportage has been the biggest challenge to the success of the Qashqai and the Juke models with the Vauxhall Mokka not having as big of an effect. Other manufacturers have looked to challenge the crossover models as Renault now have the Captur and Ford have the EcoSport.
The X Trail model will also combat the change in trends towards the more standard SUV such as the Audi Q7. The new Nissan X Trail model will go on sale in the UK in May for a price of somewhere in the region of £25,000. Range topping models are likely to lean towards the price of £30,000.
The model will also attract those who would have previously purchased the larger Qashqai plus 2 model which is no longer on sale. The new X Trail model has a number of exciting features including the underfloor storage.
The X Trail model will be available as both a five seater and a seven seater as briefly mentioned earlier. The Japanese mass market manufacturer are yet to confirm official details over the range and specification of the new model.
Most recently, Nissan confirmed that the US smash hit Murano SUV model will not be joining the UK car market. The New Nissan Murano would sit above the likes of the Qashqai and the Juke and would have seemed to give the motorist the option of a true SUV.
