We already know that next months Geneva Motor Show is going to be packed to the max with some of the latest and greatest in brand new car technology that will go on sale over the course of the next number of years. What about models that are currently on the road though and what do we have to look forward to at next months big event as far as these particular models are concerned?. Well that is where BMW come into play with a revised version of one of their most popular vehicles, the 1 Series. The German firm have announced that the vehicle is receiving a facelift which will see new changes brought into play for both the interior and exterior designs aswell as updates to the vehicles engine range. All of these new changes will go on sale with the car from later on into the duration of this year.
What changes can we expect to see in the new 1 Series?
So the first area of change we are going to focus our attention on is the exterior design. We see that the vehicle now receives some big changes to the front end which include LED daytime running lights. The same LED lighting can also be chosen to come along as the main headlight design. Walk around the car to the back end and we can see LED wrap around lighting there too. SE are the entry level versions aswell as the mid range Sport and of course the top of the range M Sport. All trim levels see some great pieces of equipment thrown into the mix but even standard pieces of kit are impressive none the less. The material used on the seating has now received some alterations meaning that they are made from a finer cloth like material. With most BMW models now you see a built in sat nav come as standard and this has proven to be the same case for the facelifted 1 Series also. The screen measures at 6.5 inches. The new model receives an active cruise control system and stop start technology is now also offered as standard.
So now we cast our attention over to the engine range to come along with the revised model. First up on the list is petrol selections which are available in 118i and 120i. The 118i carries 1.6 litres and can be chosen in two different power sources which include 134 and 168hp. The 120i units are powered by two litre engine units. A power output of 215bhp is the ending result. For you diesel fans out there need not worry. As one of the expected to be most popular choices in diesel form is of course the two litre diesel engine which can now be chosen in three different power settings. You can either opt for the entry level 148bhp engine, 187 or 221bhp. It is safe to say that with the new 1 Series, there is a little something for everyone.
How much are the revised models to go on sale for?
BMW have officially confirmed that prices for the revised model will kick off from a figure of £20,245 and you can however opt into the range topping model with all of the added features for £20,775. Keep an eye out for the redesigned model making its debut in Geneva. The car will go on sale later this year and will be looking to steal some of the spotlight from rival vehicles including the Audi A3 and the Focus from Ford.
