Next Vauxhall Corsa spied

The next generation of the Vauxhall Corsa has been spied. The model was spotted in both three door and five door versions, wearing full body disguises. These camouflaged models are fuelling suspicions that an entirely new model will be arriving in the market later this year.

The supermini was initially expected to receive no more than a minor facelift for 2014 though this is the second time the Vauxhall Corsa has been spotted in a full body disguise, suggesting that the vehicle will gain a full overhaul.

Will the Vauxhall Corsa get new engines?

Vauxhall's latest range of engines will be available for the new model. This is likely to include the 1.0 litre three cylinder petrol engine with either 89 or 113 brake horse power, the Cascada's 1.6 litre petrol and an economical 1.6 litre CDTi diesel unit.

What styling changes is the Vauxhall Corsa likely to receive?

From the spy shots taken of the disguised models, it is possible to see that the vehicle is still likely to include an Adam inspired front end. The front of the model can be seen to feature a single chrome bar with large, centrally mounted Vauxhall badge cuts across a wider version of the city car's low set grille. This divide also serves to split the Corsa's grille into two distinct patterns. Above the bar, the vents are straighter, whereas further down the slats ripple which is another effect that has been inspired by the Vauxhall Adam.

The model's wraparound headlights have been redesigned and now include arrow-like LEDs, a feature unique to the Corsa. The vehicle has also gains a slight bonnet crease in keeping with the company's current design language. The new Corsa is set to gain a pronounced ridge running between the taillights, in an attempt to help differentiate the new model from it's predecessor.

The five door variant has been kept under wraps, with the recent spy shots being the first look into the changes the variant will gain. From what can be seen under it's disguise, it looks set to share the higher waistline and chunkier rear of the three door test mule.

The new Vauxhall Corsa will likely be officially unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September before going on sale towards the end of the year. Further details on the new Vauxhall Corsa will be revealed closer to it's launch.
