Citroen have unveiled a new concept for the Geneva Motor Show next month, in the form of the Citroen C4 Cactus Adventure. The concept is an off road inspired interpretation of the recently revealed C4 Cactus and will be showcased alongside the standard model.
The C4 Cactus
The Cactus model, the new Adventure concept is based on, was a whole new venture for the brand as they moved on from making rivals for the Volkswagen Golf. The new model was designed to break the mould and address the needs of modern customers by taking radical steps in both design and innovation. Designer, Marke Llloyd, commented, “People have moved on in the way that they use products, but the car industry is very traditional, and has not moved at the same pace of change as consumers.” This is what the company tried to achieve with the Cactus model.
Styling and tech stayed similar to those in the concept version, with a floating roof, split front lights and rugged plastic panels. The model is available in ten different exterior colours, with four hues for the 'AirBump' panels and three interior 'themes'. Four different engine choices will be available when the vehicle launches in the UK in October.
What's new about the Citroen C4 Cactus Adventure concept?
Suspension on the model has been raised and the vehicle's wheel arches have been extended, likely to accommodate the bulkier off road tyres the concept should feature. The concept retains the brand's patented 'AirBump' technology on it's doors and bumpers, adding protective covers on it's headlights and a set of steel bash bars at the rear and at the front, the model has received a metal bull-bar covered in protective padding.
The concept model also gets a bespoke roof top storage box 'pod' complete with built in spotlights. Attached to the car, is at least six GoPro cameras, including along several on the roof rails and one on the bonnet. Citroen have decorated the Aventure concept in a striking white and yellow paint-job, with matching camouflage decals. With this in mind we believe, that models from brands such as Vauxhall and Peugeot would make idea rivals for this vehicle.
Will the Citroen C4 Cactus Aventure make it to sale?
There is no official information available on the Cactus Aventure concept, though numerous international reports suggest the car is simply a styling exercise to show what is possible for the brand's new SUV. The 2014 Citroen C4 Cactus model is set for it's global debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month but unfortunately, there seems to be no indication that Citroen will take the C4 Cactus Aventure concept through to production.
