American car manufacturer Cadillac are the next firm in line at the LA motor show today to reveal a brand new model from the press day. The company have officially revealed their brand new Cadillac ATS-V model which appears to be making its way to the UK next year. Although a launch for the UK has not been confirmed by the American brand, it is believed that the car will be made available here.
Images of the car being tested at the Nurburgring were posted earlier on this year which shown the vehicle in its production form and the new car that has been revealed today in LA shows the vehicle in pretty much the same style. This brand new model will be a sportier Cadillac than ever before and has been confirmed to be offered in both saloon and Coupe styles from the time of launch in 2015.
What features are announced for the Cadillac ATS-V ?
With a sporty design comes a very sports feel to the vehicle itself. This means that not only does the ATS-V feature some great features in terms of accessories it also receives a decent put out of power too. Power is delivered to the car via the fitting of a 3.6 litre engine unit developing a total of 455bhp, with a top speed of 185 mph and the sprint from 0 to 60 miles per hour on the car confirmed to arrive at its destination in a good steady time of 3.9 seconds. Looking into the transmission systems to come along with the vehicle, a standard six speed manual gearbox comes along with the vehicle as standard but customers will be face with the option of an eight speed automatic paddle shift gear setup.
The chassis, drive train and suspension system on the vehicle have also been retuned compared to that of the standard ATS model. This now means that the vehicle is much softer when hitting bad road surfaces and the car has a lot more improved handling when on the road. A set of Michelin Pilot super sport tyres have also been revealed for the car as standard as have a set of Brembo brakes.
Improvements have also been made to the overall weight of the car as we see that the firm have now included the fitting of a carbon fibre bonnet with an all new set of air scoop front and rear bumpers. A set of Recaro racing seats also give the vehicle more of a sporty feel.
When does the ATV-S go on sale?
Although news on how much the vehicle will cost is yet to be revealed, we do know that the car will go on sale from the spring time of next year with a strong potential launch for the UK also expected. Many manufactures are producing sportier models of their big selling vehicles though so this does indeed beg the question as to whether this model could compare with the likes of a new Vauxhall Corsa VXR that was announced earlier this year and even the new Golf R estate model revealed by the VW brand yesterday?.
